Crikvenica and its surrounding area is one of the most popular destinations of Croatia's Adriatic coast. Part of its popularity comes from Crikvenica's location - the town is easy to reach from Central Europe. With the set up of wooden bathing cabins (a first on the Adriatic) and opening of Hotel Therapia in 1895 (a second, right after Opatija), Crikvenica became a popular resort as early as the 19th century.

Situated on the eastern side of Kvarner Bay, beaches of Crikvenica riviera stretch kilometers long with the only abruption being the harbor in Crikvenica and a few little locations with berths for small boats. The seaside road runs from Kačjak through Dramalj and Crikvenica right until Selce and below the road are all but gravel, sandy, rocky and concrete beaches. Beyond the popular beaches around the settlement centers one can find places that are less filled up, like the sections between Crikvenica and Selce, Kačjak and Dramalj.

The options for accommodation range from classy to family run hotels, an abundance of private apartments and rooms. Two large camps are offered in Selce and a tiny one in Kačjak. Numerous restaurants, cafes, bars, shops cater for the needs of vacation makers in Crikvenica.
